Mazda Production and Sales Results for July 2006
Production and Sales Results
In July 2006, Mazda's domestic production, exports, and overseas production figures exceeded the figures for July 2005.
I. Domestic Production
For nine consecutive months since November 2005, domestic production figures exceeded those for the same month the previous year, with July 2006 up by 12.9% on July 2005. This significant increase was mainly due to increased production volumes of the CX-7, Mazda5, and Mazda6.
II. Domestic Sales
For the fifth consecutive month since March 2006, Mazda's domestic sales volumes decreased year-on-year, down 12.3% in July 2006. While sales of the Mazda3 and commercial vehicles were steady, July's figure reflected a decrease in domestic market demand and reduced sales of the Verisa, prior to being restyled in August, and the Mazda2 and Mazda6, which have been on the market for a long time. Mazda's domestic market share of registered vehicles was 5.8% (down by 0.4 points over July 2005), with a 2.4% share (up 0.1 points) of the micro-mini segment and a 4.6% total market share, down 0.4 points year-on-year.
III. Exports
For 12 months straight since August 2005, Mazda's export volume figures have increased year-on-year, up 36.1% in August 2006. These positive results mainly reflect the increased exports of the CX-7, Mazda5, and Mazda6. On a market basis, exports bound for North America were particularly strong, reaching 28,715 units (up 47.1% year-on-year) due to increased exports of the CX-7.
IV. Overseas Production
Overseas production volumes have surpassed those for the same month last year for seven straight months since January 2006, with a 9.4% increase year-on-year for July 2006 due to production volume increases of products such as the BT-50 truck series. On a country basis, production in China and Thailand was steady. In China, increased production of the Mazda6 contributed to a total of 12,280 units being produced (up 34.4% year-on-year), and in Thailand increased production of the BT-50 truck series boosted the figure to 3,647 units (up 28.5%). |
